Less meddling. More magic.
Here's a world-leading compact camera that's ready and small enough to go as far as you can take it. The new HX80 featuring a 30x zoom lens. With spur-of-the-moment speed, wider-ranging precision and simple control. It puts more expansive, engaging operation completely at your command.

30x zoom lens with ZEISS® quality built in
The result of over a century and a half of ZEISS expertise in high-precision optics is perfectly clear: this 24-720mm lens renders portrait, close-up, and landscape images in natural glory from every perspective, with vivid sharpness and contrast intact. ZEISS T* multi-layer anti-reflective coating effectively eliminates surface ghosting and flare.

Exmor R™ CMOS sensor for extra sensitivity
The more light is allowed to strike a sensor, the more brilliant a resulting image will look. So the Exmor R CMOS sensor with 18.2 effective megapixels employs back-illuminated design to let four times more light in than a more conventional sensor, is twice as sensitive to light, and even features Sony Column A/D Conversion technology to reduce image noise.

BIONZ X™ for more detail and less noise
To transform data from the Exmor R CMOS sensor into high-resolution images, the BIONZ X image processor integrates detail reproduction, diffraction-reducing and area-specific noise reduction technologies. This combination makes it possible to reproduce realistic images of truer colours and textures with exceptional precision in real time.

OLED Tru-Finder™ improves the view
The high-contrast OLED Tru-Finder is far brighter than more conventional electronic viewfinders; now features even more compact dimensions; displays real-time preview and various shooting information, so that what you see onscreen is exactly what you'll get in your shot; and is retractable for portability, safety and practicality.

180-degree tiltable LCD monitor for easy framing
The high-resolution LCD on the camera back can be tilted up to 180 degrees. So when you're in front of the camera, you can easily view the LCD to check the framing before you shoot a selfie, for example. This flexibility also lets you comfortably maintain stress-free posture while monitoring a scene that you want to shoot from a low angle.

More flexible movie formats
The new XAVC S format captures movies detailing extra-smooth action and high-quality sound with great fidelity to the original sources. Whether you’re shooting in XAVC S or high-definition AVCHD format, you can also simultaneously record another version of the same scene in a compressed, web-friendly MP4 format for convenient sharing.

One-touch remote and one-touch sharing
One-touch remote lets you use your smartphone or tablet as a viewfinder and remote control for a digital camera, and one-touch sharing lets you transfer your photos and videos from your camera. Either way, by installing PlayMemories Mobile app to your NFC-enabled Android smartphone or tablet, you can avoid complex set-up sequences and establish wireless connection simply by touching your device to the camera. You are now ready to control your camera from your smartphone to take a photo from a previously out-of-reach spot, or simply be in your own group shot, as well as transfer them instantly to your smartphone for sharing on SNS. No NFC? No problem. You can also pair the devices manually.

Sony HX80 Camera - Black - DSCHX80B is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 106.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Disappointing! Poor Quality Images. I purchased this camera because it had so many good reviews. I wanted a compact, capable point-and-shoot with a flip-up screen and a viewfinder. This camera was meant to be an everyday carry camera, especially for days when I'm not carrying my mirrorless setup (also Sony) and want the ability to shoot quality images There are a few pros. The camera build feels sturdy, the pop-up EVF and flip screen are really nice features. The cons touch on the most important aspects of the camera. The images, even at 24mm and with the aperture wide open, were fuzzy and blurry. No aspect of the images I took in good light were sharp. When zooming in with the 30x optical lens, the image quality is even worse. This is to be expected, however, it degrades horribly at 30mm+. The fact that it zooms to 720mm is merely a gimmick. You will not get any usable, quality, sharp shots beyond 24-30mm. Overall, I was really disappointed by this camera and I cannot believe that it has so many positive reviews. My cell phone (OnePlus 3T) outperforms this camera which has far more features and potential. I returned it to the store the same day that I purchased it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Camera Excellent Eventually I've not used the camera a lot yet but it has been excellent so far, including wireless photo transfer using playmemories. Also love the remote control using the phone. My issue is that too get the applications updated I had to enter a valid Sony user ID and password on the camera. To do this I had to reset the password on three different Sony sites before I could login on the camera. I think your account needs to be on the PlayStation network although I fail to understand why my account is not common to all Sony sites.
