Overview
This commemorative box set includes Claude Guilmain’s new film, The Van Doos: 100 Years with the Royal 22e Régiment, produced by Anne-Marie Rocher, Jacques Turgeon and Maryse Chapdelaine, as well as two other documentaries about the Canadian Armed Forces directed by Guilmain: The Van Doos in Afghanistan and Front Lines, which was inspired by letters written by soldiers who fought during World War I. The Van Doos: 100 Years with the Royal 22e Régiment traces the history of the Regiment from its creation at the beginning of World War I to its exploits during World War II, the Korean War and its deployment in Afghanistan. This 100th-anniversary box set reflects the NFB’s commitment to highlighting the great historic moments that forged our country. The Van Doos: 100 Years with the Royal 22e Régiment is one of the major works produced by the NFB to commemorate both world wars. The set also features several bonus items: Claude Cloutier’s animated short The Trenches and an assortment of extras. The Royal 22e Régiment: A Glorious Centennial was produced by the National Film Board of Canada in collaboration with the Corporation du Royal 22e Régiment.
