Did You Know:

1. Originally incorporated in 1912, the City of Duncan in southeast Vancouver Island, British Columbia is the smallest city (by area) in Canada and the capital of the Cowichan Valley District. The region is named after its indigenous peoples, the Cowichan Tribes, the single largest First Nations band in British Columbia. The word "Cowichan" comes from the Coast Salish Halkomelem word Quw̓utsun̓, meaning "the warm land."

2. Duncan is named after one of its earliest settlers of European ancestry, William Chalmers Duncan from Ontario, who settled in the Cowichan Bay area in 1862. Called the "City of Totems," the city has 80 of these monumental indigenous carvings throughout town. Duncan is also home to the world's largest ice hockey stick, originally commissioned for the Vancouver Expo '86 World's Fair and currently on display beside the city's Island Savings Centre.

3. The London Drugs off the Trans-Canada Highway at Cowichan Way, has been part of the Duncan community since 2009.
