1. St. Vital is a neighbourhood in the south-central part of the City of Winnipeg, Manitoba, bounded to the north by Carrière Avenue, to the south by the northern limit of the Rural Municipality of Ritchot, to the west by the Red River, and to the east by the Seine River. A small part of St. Vital lies south of the Perimeter Highway, which extends east across the Seine to the boundary of the Rural Municipality of Springfield. Mainly residential, St. Vital is a city ward comprised of St. Vital North and St. Vital South.
2. Named by Archbishop Taché in 1860 in honour of his colleague, Father Vital-Justin Grandin, the community was established in 1822 by francophone settlers, particularly Métis. St. Vital remained a strongly francophone community in the early decades after Manitoba's incorporation as a Canadian province in 1870. The neighbourhood is known for the Riel House National Historic Site, Louis Riel's family home; St. Vital Park, one of Winnipeg's largest public parks; and the St. Vital Centre, a major regional shopping complex opened in 1979.
3. The London Drugs in St. Vital Centre on St. Mary's Road at Bishop Grandin Road, has been part of the St. Vital neighbourhood and Winnipeg community since 2004.
