South Edmonton Common is a retail power centre in the south of the City of Edmonton, Alberta, extending from 23 Avenue south to Anthony Henday Drive, and east from Gateway Boulevard to Parsons Road. Opened in 1998 and strategically situated at one of the city’s highest traffic locations, South Edmonton Common is spread over 320 acres with more than 150 retailers in 2.3 million square feet of dining, shopping and entertainment space, making it one of North America's largest open-air retail developments.
2. South Edmonton Common is adjacent to Parsons Industrial and the Edmonton Research and Development Park, as well as the mainly residential Kaskitayo Outline Plan subdivision neighbouhoods. The Kaskitayo area (from kas-ki-tee-oo-asiki, the Cree name for nearby Blackmud Creek) comprises eight neighbourhoods named in honour of historic First Nations leaders, including Bearspaw, Blue Quill, Ermineskin, Keheewin, Skyrattler, Steinhauer, Sweet Grass, and Twin Brooks.
