London Drugs London Centre
10531 - 51st Avenue Edmonton, Alberta, T6H 0K5
1. Empire Park is a neighbourhood in the southwest of the City of Edmonton, Alberta, bounded on the south by Whitemud Drive, on the west by 111 Street, on the north by 51 Avenue, and on the east by Calgary Trail. Established since the early 1910s, the name Empire Park likely references the British Empire, as many early Edmontonians were from Great Britain.
2. A diverse residential, commercial, and industrial area, the neighbourhood is represented by the Empire Park Community League established in 1968, which maintains a community hall and outdoor rink located at 107 Street and 48 Avenue. Southgate Centre in the west of Empire Park is a major shopping destination, and when it opened in 1970, was the largest shopping centre west of Toronto, Ontario.
3. The London Drugs in London Place on 51 Avenue NW at 106 Street NW, has been part of the Empire Park community since 1982.
"We're in an older neighborhood with great access to LRT at Southgate Centre mall, used a lot by students as we are close to the University [of Alberta]; the bus system is good around here. We have everything we need in our community, the main hub in the south Centre District. The mall is probably our biggest attraction."
