The AppCam 23 camera is an indoor/outdoor camera that is weatherproof and has an IP66 weather rating. Water can be sprayed on it and it will still work; however, the camera cannot be submerged underwater.
Although this camera can be exposed directly to the rain, it is recommended that, if it is used outdoors, it be mounted under some type of cover like a patio overhang or eave. As rainwater drops start to dry on the camera glass, it can create spots that will reflect the light from the infrared LEDs used for night vision, thus causing lower quality video.
Also, as dust, grime, and cobwebs accumulate on the camera glass, they can reflect light from the infrared LED and might lower video quality. Periodically clean the lens glass with a soft cloth.

Rated 4 out of 5 by bigmikemike from Easy to Set Up I was reluctant to purchase this after reading the other reviews on LD, but I googled around and decided to give it a try based on video's etc. I had no problem setting it up, I simply plugged it in (power and Ethernet cable), downloaded the app to my iPad and away it went. The app found the camera quickly and before I knew it, it was showing me video. I turned on the motion detection ... and I received a notification when my wife walked by. Once you go through the full set up, you change to WiFi seamlessly. It was less than an hour from opening the box to having the camera mounted and working. I've loaded the App on my iPad and on my Android phone. Both work. I'm using it for the Night Vision / Motion Detection features and have it mounted outdoors. It is not fully outdoor compatible (it is IP66 weather rated - whatever that means). Its recommended that you put it in a protected location, which I have. Night vision and motion detection work well. 15' for night vision is very good ... not so sure about 25'. I give it 4 stars, not 5 for the following reasons: - video is grainy (daytime & night) - manuals could be better and more readable, I had to download PDF's from the Uniden site to read the screen snaps etc. - the app is a bit clunky, - While I'm able to view videos recorded when motion is detected, but I don't seem to be able to save them on my iPad. They are stored on a MicroSD card in the camera. If I want to save them, I will have to go get the card out of the camera and load them on my laptop which is a bit of a hassle.

Rated 1 out of 5 by WestRes from Mobile Client Software Currently Broken The version of the mobile client in the Apple App store (v 1.2.35) is currently broken and only partially works with the camera (older version worked fine). In the current version, you can see live videos but cannot play recorded video. I have logged a support request and have been waiting 2+ weeks for a fix. Uniden appears to be aware of the issue with no idea of a fix time. This seems poor service for a security product. I did the usual, re-install, and factory reset my cameras. This does not address the issue. There appears to be a bug in the software. The camera itself appears to have good build quality, but the bugs in the software and product design (reset button affixed to external cord) let this product down.
