CURRENT OPERATING SYSTEM
Find out which version of Windows your computer is using:
  1. On the taskbar at the bottom of your screen, click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Run dialog box, type: winver

RAM
Find out how much system memory (RAM) your computer has:

If you are using Windows XP/2000:

If you are using Windows Vista:

  1. Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.

FREE HARD DISK SPACE
Find out how much disk space is available on your computer:
  1. Click Start, and then click My Computer (Computer, in Windows Vista).
  2. Click on your primary drive—typically, this is drive C (the first drive letter that is available for hard disks). The available free space is shown in the Details pane.
DIRECTX 9 GRAPHICS CARD
Find out the version of DirectX installed on your computer:

Click Start, and then click Run.

  1. To open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, type dxdiag, and then click OK.
  2. On the System tab, note the version of DirectX displayed on the DirectX Version line.
  3. On the DirectX Files tab, check the version information for each DirectX file.
  4. When you are finished checking file versions, click Exit.

If Windows cannot find the dxdiag program, DirectX version 5.0 or earlier is installed on your computer. If this is the case, download and install the current version of DirectX.

GRAPHICS MEMORY (VRAM)
Determine the amount of video memory (VRAM) installed on your computer:
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. Type dxdiag, and then click OK (NOTE: If you’re using Windows Vista, type dxdiag into the Search box).
  3. Select the Display tab. On the left side box, you will see Device properties for your display card. The Approx. Total Memory indicates the VRAM installed on your computer.
  4. When you are finished, click Exit.

If Windows cannot find the dxdiag program, DirectX version 5.0 or earlier is installed on your computer. If this is the case, download and install the current version of DirectX.
