London Drugs Pharmacists available to answer parents and guardians questions, in our stores and by calling a London Drugs pharmacist at 1-888-991-2299

Richmond B.C. - December 18, 2008 - In response to Health Canada’s recent announcement concerning cough and cold products for children under six, London Drugs pharmacists are available to assist customers with questions and concerns on how to treat a child’s cough and cold.

As with any medications whether they are prescribed, or found over-the counter, it is imperative that a pharmacist be consulted on the dosing requirements and to ensure there are no complications with other medications or possible side effects.

London Drugs is now moving all cough and cold medicines designated for children (these products currently have dosing instructions for children 2 – 12 years of age) behind our pharmacy counters.

This move provides our customers and patients with the opportunity to consult with a pharmacist to ensure accurate dosing of these cough and cold products for children 12 and under.

London Drugs pharmacists can also offer alternative methods for treating a child’s cough and cold once consulting with the parents, such as: extra rest, using a humidifier and increased fluid intake.

If parents wish to bring in their child’s medicines from home for review, a London Drugs pharmacist will be able to consult on the medicine and answer any questions parents have.

If a customer wishes to dispose of any medications, London Drugs can properly dispose the medication, in an environmentally responsible manner.
