"What does the term 'chelate' mean on my London Naturals Cal-Mag supplement?"

If you look at the label for London Naturals Cal-Mag, you will see the term “chelate” next to the ratio of calcium to magnesium. This means that the two minerals have undergone a process called “chelation.”

The term chelation comes from the Greek word “chelos” or claw. It refers to the process whereby special substances claw or attach themselves to minerals such as calcium and magnesium and literally pull them into the body. This is greatly beneficial because most of the calcium/ magnesium in unchelated supplements passes through the body and is unable to reach the bloodstream.

Many of the minerals in London Naturals supplements have been chelated for better absorption.
