Preventing Sinus Pain

• If you tend to get sinus headaches, there are a number of actions you can take to reduce the likelihood of developing one:
• Exercise aerobically at least four times weekly. Aerobic exercise such as brisk walking or running helps the sinuses drain naturally, reducing the risk of clogging and inflammation.
• If you have known allergens such as dust, pollens, moulds, pet dander or certain foods, do your best to avoid them.
• Drink plenty of water. Good hydration encourages your nasal passages to drain naturally.
• Elevating the head of your bed by six inches will help your sinuses drain better. (Try placing two six-inch blocks under the legs of your headboard.)

What is Sinusitis?

Sinusitis is the name given to inflammation of the sinuses, caused by a viral or bacterial infection. The infection often follows a cold and can be extremely painful.
