Back to Basics
When your grandmother told you to eat more veggies and fruits and get to bed early, she was right. Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables, and getting enough sleep are vital to a healthy and active immune system.
Fruits, vegetables and whole grains are full of antioxidants, which help the body’s cells and tissues stay young. The cells of the immune system are no different. They need the power of antioxidant vitamins and other factors to work at full capacity.
Sleep is also vital for the immune response. During sleep, the immune system replenishes itself. Be sure to get at least seven hours a night (more if you are already sick).
Making sure you keep active is another “basic” for good overall health, helping to keep your entire body in good working order.
