Help Support the Ride for Hope for Canuck Place
Join London Drugs and Help Support the "Ride for Hope" for Canuck Place

Canucks' Mascot FIN will be at London Drugs in Mission 9:30-10:30 am to cheer on the riders

Richmond, B.C., July 2, 2009 - On July 8th Canucks Alumni cycling in the “Ride for Hope” will make stops at three London Drugs locations in the group’s efforts to raise funds for Canuck Place. London Drugs customers will have the opportunity to meet members of Team Alliance as well as FIN – the Canucks mascot, who will be joining the riders at London Drugs in Mission from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The Ride for Hope continues on to the Cottonwood Mall in Chilliwack from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. The Ride for Hope will stretch over 200 kilometres, beginning in Cloverdale at 7:30 a.m. and finishing in Hope at 6:00 p.m.

“London Drugs is proud to be part of this year’s “Ride for Hope” in support of the many children who are cared for at Canuck Place,” said Clint Mahlman, London Drugs senior vice president. “We encourage our customers to come out and meet the Canucks Alumni and FIN, and help support the riders in their goal to raise $50,000 for Canuck Place.

”The Ride for Hope charity bike ride was developed to raise awareness and funds for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, a health care facility that provides specialized care for children living with life-threatening illness and support for their families throughout British Columbia. Team Alliance is a team of like-minded athletes who enjoy achieving their athletic goals by competing and racing in both road and mountain bike events. This year Team Alliance members signing autographs at the Mission London Drugs are Terry Bingley, Dean Malkoc, Gary Nylund, Dan Clark, Doug Deacon, John Craighead, Mike Mac William, Dennis Ververgaert and Jeff Bandura.

Canuck Place Children’s Hospice is a story of courage and vision, and a shining example of the good that comes when individuals and organizations see a need in their community and work to fill it. In November 1995 Canuck Place opened as North America’s first free-standing children’s hospice. Today, it remains the model for children’s hospices in North America providing hospice care free-of-charge to children and their entire families. Canuck Place is regarded as one of the leading children’s hospices in the world.

In support of Canuck Place all Lower Mainland London Drugs will be selling Purdy’s Chocolate bars for $3.00 with proceeds going to Canuck Place.
