During the London Drugs Heart Health Clinic participants can identify and assess their risk factors for developing heart disease and learn measures to reduce the risk of heart disease. Factors that increase the risk of heart disease include smoking, being overweight and an inactive lifestyle combined with high stress, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and high blood glucose levels. 

Patient-care pharmacists will perform a test for blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose levels through a simple finger prick blood sample, weight and waist-hip measurements. Pharmacists will assess the likelihood of developing heart disease and show ways to minimize the risk of heart disease including improvements in cardiovascular health. The pharmacist will develop an action plan based on the patient’s personal heart profile to fit with individual wellness goals. Hearth Health Clinic participants will take home a Heart Health Information Kit including a personal assessment, heart health care plan, informational pamphlets and newsletters, a coupon for a blood pressure monitor and a Body Mass Index Table.
